Who's Gonna Save My Soul?

The Premise
Who’s Gonna Save My Soul is a short film directed by Chris Milk set to the music of Gnarls Barkley. It follows a couple as they break up in a diner, and shows the pain that the man faces in a very visual manner.
What We Like
This film immediately appealed to us, as it is based around a couple saying goodbye, very much like our project. We liked the way that the inner workings of the man’s mind were represented through the form of the bleeding heart. Although on the surface it would appear that this is very abstract and un-relatable to our work, we can take influence from this very visual portrayal of deep down hidden emotion. Instead of this animated heart, we are planning on showing these hidden emotions through the form of cut scenes showing images of pain, destruction and violence.
The bulk of this film is also set in the man’s imagination, which is revealed to us bleakly at the end. The way the filmmaker has chosen to make the audience believe this imaginary conversation is happening in real life is very similar to how we wish the bulk of our project to take form.
